"You should take up writing..."
... something I've heard regularly over the years from people across the many disparate spaces I occupy. It's something I've always loved doing, but lacking a proper outlet, rarely make time for.
Until now.
What am I hoping to achieve?
Maybe it’s like the philosophical tree in the woods. If a piece of writing falls into this space and nobody sees it land, does it actually fire any neurons? Which is why I’d be delighted if you felt the urge to subscribe to either of my Substacks: this one, or my personal one, … Periodically.
No obligation, obviously, but I don’t have any immediate plans to set up a paywall, so what do you have to lose?
Why two? Aren’t you just creating more work for yourself?
Undoubtedly! But I’m sure not all learning professionals want to hear about the foibles of the brass banding world, the weird sparrow peering through my window, a poem on something profound, or my cat herding exploits, nor do most casual readers give much thought to the deeper intricacies of platform design, UDL or evaluation techniques.
But why now?
Well, why not? Also, I’ve finally run out of excuses to tell myself. And let’s face it, what’s the worst that could happen? You read this, run screaming for the hills, and… I’ll just keep on writing, because that’s kind of the point, isn’t it? And maybe one day someone will stumble across something that they needed to see, or that means something to them, or that just makes their day a little bit brighter.
Now, where’s my notebook?
If you’re wondering about this epic notebook, you should check out WTF Notebooks. Don’t go near it if you have the slightest hint of a stationery or notebook addiction.
