Another Substack?!
An introduction, and an explanation of why it'll be sitting separately from this one.
New year, new project.
This one had been on my mind for a while, but it didn't really fit in with this Substack; it felt as though it sat slightly apart as its own concept. Yes, it’s categorically … About Learning, but it has quite a specific focus, altogether different from my random musings in here.
I’d been in two minds whether or not to pursue it at one point. Realising I desperately needed (a) a second opinion, and (b) a gently-executed boot up the backside, I discussed it with someone whose opinion I value highly, and who I know thinks in similar ways to me. As always, we got totally engrossed in a very enthusiastic, learning-centred conversation about its potential.
Result: this has become a bit of a collaborative venture, and will be going out with contributions from both of us! I’d like to introduce you to this … About Learning’s new sibling publication:
Learning Theory Unpacked - Pedagogy Brought to Life
Its inaugural post considers how Universal Design for Learning might look like in real life, and how its principles can be applied without a Hollywood budget.
I hope you enjoy it! Please do subscribe to Learning Unpacked, and let us know what you think. My co-conspirator (whose identity will be revealed when they publish their own first post to it) and I have ideas for a few topics we’d like to cover, but we’d love to receive suggestions for theories and concepts you think people would like to hear about.
